July blog post

Updated: Aug 5, 2024

I guess July for me has always been the month that my favourite flower really shines best. I've enjoyed seeing and painting roses recently.

It's been a productive month, here and some highlights of my July.

I've kept up art journaling, a creative expressive way for me to either process emotions or create feelings of joy and peace without any pressure to really create a masterpiece. I love focusing on expressive mark making and colour and composition. In pretty patterns and just playing with textures and tools.

We have had some grey days and it's great to brighten the day with colour.

I'm working on a few different paintings as I usually do. I think based on the room I have this is the maximum I can work on at one time, perhaps if I had more room I'd be inbetween many different idea's as I have so many, especially in summer when colour is all around and inspiration is more abundant for a nature lover like me.

I've enjoyed a little painting outdoors, though not as much as last year due to more rainy/grey days. I've kept up with reading here and there and in enjoying audio books while I paint too. Half way through the year so thats very relective, I'm quite happy with the progress I've made in gaining knowlege and skill as an artist this year. Always keen to learn more and progress, to share my art with more people and feel it's doing some good to create paintings that are enjoyed by people or to inspire creativity, enjoyment and the benefits and love I feel for it.

I continue in researching colour, colour phycology and various different artists and other subjects. Researching subjects online, listening to audio books and podcasts, reading books and my own experiments.

Anyway I guess that's my July how fast this year has gone by. Make the most of time and focus on good things, give yourself the same love you'd give to others and take care
