October blog post 🧡🍂

Updated: 7 days ago

Time flies. The leaves quickly turn to their autumnal colour displays and then the october winds scatter them around. I have been enjoying the colours and delights of autumn, while making the most of the last remaining flowers.

I have really enjoyed making some Autumnal art. I will have some mushroom lino-cut prints added to my online sale sites soon. Print making is something I spent a lot of time doing at college so though I love painting I find it nice to use other mediums especially lino-cut.

I have also had some paintings framed and new pieces to make avaliable on my sites.

This is newly framed and is a plein-air painting of a scene I love viewing. The piece is called "Serene Solitude" Painted plein air (on location in one sitting). It was a misty morning and these cliffs are a place I often go to find peace. The view of Folkestone from The Battle Of Britain Memorial.

Acrylic on canvas board 10x12 inches

Framed in a wooden canvas frame with wall fixings, for secure hanging.

This is now avaliable to buy here on my website, or on my ebay. My website here is only UK delivery at the moment, but I use ebay for their global shipping programme and have had no issues with pieces going abroad. My packaging securely protects paintings.

Here is another peaceful painting of an Orchid plant which was given to me as a gift from a friend. I kept the piece soft in the detailing with blending techniques and simplified the concept with a calm background and light framing. I worked on this piece meticulously for many months untill I was happy to call it finished. This will be avaliable to buy soon. I will also have giclee prints avaliable on my Etsy print store soon too.

The commission painting I worked on for a long time was beautifully framed and has now gone to it's owner. They really liked the piece and the way I chose to paint Jet the dog with the beautiful landscape on the farm where they work. Jet is a lovely dog and getting older now, so this painting request will be a reminder of the great life she lives and the beautiful landscape which may not exist as it is in future.

I love creating pieces on commission requests for the capturing of things which are special to people, and really take a lot of time and effort to do my upmost in creating special works.

I have paintings varnished or ready to varnish and frame, and I have been journalling a lot too so have been busy creating art around working a lot too.

This work in progress is slowly progressing. I'm enjoying the challenge of such a detailed bunch of flowers with their complex structure and am excited to see how this continues to take shape.

Autumn is a beautiful season which reminds me to appreciate things, before they are gone. That change can be beautiful and is necesary as we learn and grow as life is lived. Whether that is in moments of joy or in moments of loss and the storms of life. There is beauty around and blessings in every moment that can be found when we really look for them.

Take care,

Gemma Bradshaw
