Painted lady butterfly on Greatstone beach 10x12 inch framed acrylic painting

Painting shown at seas the day II exhibition December 2022 in Folkestones creative quarter as part of a group show. Real wood and glass framed canvas board acrylic painting 10×12inch. A painting of a painted lady butterfly on Greatstone beach, in Kent. Painting was part of a group exhibition called "Seas the day II" in December 2022 at the brewery tap in Folkestone. Image created with the use of two photo references, using my own photography. Both photo's of the beach and the painted lady butterfly taken on the same day just metres apart. Idea created around the awe and inspiration that is the great migratory species of beautiful butterfly. The painted lady making a long journey of 4500 miles from Africa to the UK. This was the first I'd seen that year and after being stuck waiting for our car to be towed due to a flat tyre I felt only glad. This painting is symbolic in many ways. Butterflies are well known symbolically used to show transformation, growth, and hope. This painting has personal symbolism, but mostly What Id like it to inspire is thoughts of how great nature is and how beautiful. Here a species so small compared to the vast ocean makes such a long journey that I find surprising, opening up my understanding not to think limiting beliefs around what is possible. Painted created after a smaller creation, the piece has been worked on in many, many layers of small detailed brush strokes over about a year from 2021-2022 during which time I worked on other pieces of work also but this paintof a grouping was my main focus. Acrylic paint was use d on canvas board, as well as texture added withshow the addition of acrylic heavy structure gel mediums. Varnished with a gloss varnish, then framed under glass. Signed on front with initials GEB for Gemma Elizabeth Bradshaw. Signed on back with full name, name of the painting, medium used, and date completed.
