September!

It's been super. With Openartfolke24 festival finishing yesterday I'm reflecting on how well that went and how great September has been so far. Feeling thankful and hopeful for the future of art in Folkestone! ❤️

I focused on seeing lots of artist work and making connections, going to the meetings and learning from others. I was also glad to join the Folbout town market on the 14th-15th, and happy to have sold 4 paintings. I enjoyed the change from selling art online to making connections with people, hearing stories and sharing my own. There was a beautiful family story about a painted lady butterfly which was kind of like my own story/symbolism in one of my paintings and further created a sense of appreciation for nature and awe and wonder for deeper meaning of things. Then there was the plein air painting I created on the 21st. A tricky painting! I'm working on this today at my desk. I took my time on the day focusing on getting the perspective right with lots of lines for buildings. I have photos and videos, plus memories to work from now.

Here's some pictures from my personal involment in Openartfolke24.

I'm continuing with my plein air painting, finishing at home. There is still a lot to do, so I will keep working on it for a while. This is my first painting of buildings, so I really threw myself in at the deep end painting live today in a busy location. All those straight lines were a lot to get my head around. Glad to have made a good start and sketched out most of the layout in the location, to be continued...

I'm glad to be back at my desk again, working on my paintings with my cat who has had much less attention recently.

It was autumn equinox and the first official day of autumn yesterday. I had a nice run in the rain and am adjusting to the change in seasons.

Autumn is beautiful.

I have a lot of paintings I want to work on at the moment. My main focus is a pet portrait commission, I feel it's gone very well so far as I work on the background.

Here is all the other paintings I'm looking at finishing, re-working and that are in progress or on my mind at the moment.

Happy Autumn, all the best and take care 🍂
